THE OXFORD GOWN
Tailored on a traditional pattern with lined bell sleeves, cuffs and buttons, the Oxford gown offers the wearer complete choice of the very finest black or degree color silk velvets*, all carefully straight stitched in place and elegantly trimmed in gold metallic, silver metallic or black piping. *Not all degree colors are available in silk velvet.
The Oxford has both a concealed zipper as well as hook and eye closure. The Oxford boasts generous front pleats, a beautiful draped yoke with braided cord and button, neck edge trim and fluted shoulders and back for a luxurious and padded look and feel. A four inch hem at the bottom of the gown ensures quality finish and optimum draping effect.
The Oxford comes complete with a hood attachment button and dual pockets with slit openings. The Oxford is created using the finest fabric available, Lyric polyester faille. The Oxford is shown above in Ph.D. blue silk velvet with gold metallic piping.
Your name or initials are custom embroided in the yoke of the gown
VELVET TAM WITH TWO-BUTTON GOLD METALLIC TASSEL
This a black silk velvet octagonal Tam with sewn on two-button gold metallic tassel featuring flexible sizing through a velvet covered elastic band. In order to ensure proper fit, your head circumference or hat size must be collected, as we have several adjustable sizes.
Styled in the tradition of the first graduates to wear regalia, the Tam is the crowning item denoting the degree of Doctor. The tam is tailored to rest comfortably on the head with the tassel near the left temple.
Ph.D. blue silk velvet hood shown with purple and two white school lining.
All Quality Tailored™ Hoods feature degree color velvet, satin school color lining, fabric cut on the bias for perfect contour and draping, loop cord for convenient attachment and hood cord and button for attractive control of the rolled out lining. Most Ph.D.s wear the color of Philosophy, which is the blue silk velvet shown above. The color of the specific area of study is not typically shown on Ph.D Hoods.
